Shower #2 and #3
We made the trip to Detroit for our anniversary on August 19th and spent the night at Jaclyn and Jason's house. Jaclyn and Nikki threw us a great little couples shower with all of our friends that live down there. It was so nice of them to go through all the effort of planning just so they could celebrate what we are so super excited about!! What an awesome thing to be celebrating our 5th year wedding anniversary and a baby on the way all in one night!!!
Lindsey and Gary threw us the most wonderful backyard shower at their house just this past Friday night. They put so much time and effort into making it personal and perfect. We loved everything about it!!! We are so lucky to be blessed with the BEST friends in the world!!! This baby is going to be surrounded with love!

32 Weeks
Everything is still going great. Baby is growing strong and steady. I feel as though I have not been able to focus on these last few weeks (month or so) with getting my classroom ready and school starting. It's all just flown by.
Nick and I finally started sorting through all of our shower gifts and everything we have for the baby...which is tons. We also made a giant list of all the things we need BEFORE the baby arrives.
I am anxious about when the arrival might be...praying hard that the baby comes as close to it's due date as possible. I can't afford to go any sooner with everything going on at school and getting sub plans ready. And I don't want the baby to come any later because that means less time at home with him/her for mat leave. So I ask that you all pray really hard for this baby to come when we need it too!!! :)
I still have a feeling that it's a girl but Nick finally admitted to me this morning that he thinks it's a boy. We'll see who is right!!!

Baby Shower #1
We had our first baby shower on Saturday and we had so much fun! We feel so lucky and blessed to have so many wonderful friends and family that certainly spoiled us wrotten! Thanks so much to the Defevers, Mike and Karen Schalhamer, Todd and Marisa Schalhamer and of course the soon to be Aunt Lindsey for putting the shower on for us.
On Sunday when we got everything uloaded and unpacked it made us very excited. We got motivated to take down the bed in what used to be the spare room and get the crib put together. It was even Nick's idea...not mine! :) We had one of Nick's Ferris teammates help Nick put it together...so he's getting some practice for when it's his turn! ;)

The final product...now we just need Baby S!!!

Heartbeat
Well, I had another Dr. appt. yesterday (they are every two weeks now). Anyway, I had to go to the lab first to drink that orange sugary syrup stuff for my glucose test. She said that the babies heartbeat was pretty high (but consistent with what it has been). She thought that it might have been high because of all that sugar. However, based on what it has been it seemed pretty normal. My belly is measuring at 27in...perfectly normal. She thinks too, after feeling around that the babies head is down now. Kinda crazy that we only have 12 1/2 weeks left!!!
As we were leaving the room the Dr. turned to me and said "Well, if you're going on heart rate...it's a girl!" BUT she followed by telling us that she has two boys that both had high heart rates too so she's not so sure how dependable that wives tale is. :) Who knows?! I've certainly been having feelings now that it is a girl...I haven't had any intuitions up until this point. The suspense is killing me!!! But I LOVE it!!!

Exciting Changes
Well, we've discovered that this baby can certainly handle stress! Last week I was asked to interview for some teaching jobs that became open at Big Rapids Public Schools. I studied and prepped for two days and had the hardest time sleeping because I was so nervous. The interview was infront of 6 people (administrators and teachers)...it ended up going well. They invtited me to come back to teach two 10-min mini writing lessons for them (no kids...just them). They were undecided whether they wanted me to teach Kindergarten or 4th grade so I had to do the mini lessons in both. AHHHH!!! Talk about stress! This baby is certainly well aware of how my body handles stress...I am sure he/she could feel it. I practiced the lessons on Nick...he loved it as you can imagine! :) Anyway, that same afternoon they offered me the Kindergarten spot!!! I am so excited!!
2011 is definitely going to be full of changes...I am saying good bye to my St. Mary's family and hello to knew and exciting opportunities in a public school district. All of this is going to happen right in the middle of us welcoming a new member to our family! So so fun!
