20 Weeks!

We went yesterday for our 20 week ultra sound and it was so much fun! We knew the tech so we got tons of extra pictures! She even told us to give her a call and come back some evening for a 3-D. :) I think we may just take her up on that.
The baby was super photogenic! We got a thumbs up, we got a smiley face, we even got to see him/her open wide! It was awesome. The best part for me though was watching the baby move on the camera and feeling it at the same time. Once it a while it would bump against the "wand" thingy. :)
Nick still has not been able to feel it...but now that I know for sure that I'm feeling it I can tell you it's one active baby!
We did not peek to try and find out the sex so that is still a total surprise. The tech even marked it on our charts to not tell the Dr. so that the Dr. won't ever slip.
Half way there!

We are Registered!

We are officially registered at Babies R Us and Target (typical). :) It was a long day but totally worth it. I think we were at Babies R Us for a total of 3 1/2 hours on Saturday! They were sooooo helpful there, they made it as comfortable and relaxing as possible. The main lady who helped us was even Canadian! :)

Being there at that store though made me super excited for when the baby is born so we know the sex. So many adorable choices for a nursery. I can't wait to get designing...at least 5 months to go!

On another note, I am fairly sure I have been feeling the baby kicking the last two weeks or so. Last night I was even certain that I felt it on the outside too! So hard to tell though!

Registering

Nick and I decided to get set up on our registries tonight. We thought we might be able to take care of some of it online...and we did...7 things! LOL! And only 4 hours later. It's so overwhelming all the things you need and deciding what's the best of each thing. I am hoping that it goes a bit better in the stores. :) At least we are getting a head start so there's no rush.

Maternity Shopping

Well we took the plunge last night and spent the evening shopping for maternity clothes. I found some good things that will help me throughout the summer. I am honestly not sure why people don't wear maternity clothes  (jeans especially) all the time. They are the most amazingly comfortable things I have ever worn! I can't wait to live in them!!!
It's funny, I usually hate shopping because it's so hard to be comfortable in clothes...not last night...I feel so comfortable in my body right now, shopping was easy. Except of course the bathingsuit part of it. :( I ended up finding one that will work, but it's going to have to work for the entire summer. I told Nick that most of the time I feel so blessed to be able to spend our summers on the water, boating. BUT right now, the whole bathingsuit thing is just kind of painful. I guess I have to suck it up though and count my blessings! :)

A Looooong Interesting Day

Our Friday afternoon was great! We had a Dr. appointment and got to hear the babies heartbeat again...no ultra sound though. We were surprised to even get to be able to hear the heartbeat! That has become my favorite sound. She said that everything is growing perfectly normal. The babies heartbeat is right on track and so is my belly and weight. :) So that was all great. THEN.... our evening was entirely different!
I came home to a destroyed house and an unconscious dog, not Bauer, but Champ (Lynne and Bill's dog). We have been dog sitting while they are in Louisiana. Anyway, Champ, at some point in the day decided to somehow get his cookie bag (which included a bottle of his seizure pills) off of the counter. He then ate all of the cookies and attacked the pill bottle. He must of went on a crazy high and bounced all over our house until finally crashing on the floor. He was out...breathing, but completely out. We rushed him quickly to the vet where they preceded to tell us that they believe that he injested roughly 50 pills out of the bottle and that they could do nothing. We had to take him to an emergency pet hospital in Grand Rapids. After being in Grand Rapids for about 1 1/2 hrs. while they examined him, we finally had to call Lynne and Bill. It was the worst phone call we could ever make. The vet told us that there was a chance he wasn't going to make it. There were a few procedures they were going to try but not to get our hopes entirely up. We left him there at the hospital last night. Since then he has been hooked on IVs, and has been closely monitored after having a few different procedures done. We call every 8 hours to get the updates. The last one was the best. The Dr. said she was very happy because he was making great progress. Still not up and moving around, but showing sure signs of improvement. They are going to keep him again over night to keep him on fluids but she is hopeful that he will come home sometime tomorrow. Bill is on his way back from Louisiana. We feel horrible that this happened in our care.
All the while we were waiting on the news of Champs condition, we just kept thinking about how scary this kind of stuff will be with a child. Not sure if I'm ready for all the worry. I hear it doesn't end now for the rest of your life.

Maternity Leave

I can't believe it but it's all taken care of! I already have a substitute who is thrilled to be in long term and I have been approved to take all of November, December and January off. I know it's still not nearly enough, but it's better than the original 6 weeks. To be honest, I've never done this before, but the thought of February 1st already makes me teary. I can't imagine how hard it's going to be. :( I am fortunate at least to be able to have every summer to spend with my baby!

Today one of my students said to me "I hope the baby is a girl." I asked her why and she said "Because she'll be really cute, and she'll be exactly like you when she grows up." I totally lost it!!! Sometimes, they can be the sweetest human beings on the planet!

16 Weeks!

Here's our 16 week baby bump. I can't wait to go shopping for new clothes...I have nothing that fits around this belly anymore! :)
